Working Out and Getting Healthy

So, we spent $800 for an 18month gym membership, and right now, we are having a hard time going on a regular basis.  Unfortunately with one car, me in school, Jared's job, a two year old, and gas prices where they are, we just can't always make it work.  Unfortunately for us, this means that we are out $800, but for the next 17months, we can still go to the gym when we can.  In the meantime, we have purchased Insanity with Shaun T, and we are going to do that in conjunction with going to the gym.  I am sure hoping that this workout works, and in 60days, I will have reached my goal completely.
I started Insanity on Friday and with the exception of the vacation coming up, I plan to stick with it as well as go to the gym.  During our vacation, we will most likely just be going to the gym.  I sure hope that I will be able to acheive my goal, and get in shape!

Like Time No Type.....Again

So, now Jared has been home for almost 2 months, and our little one is about to turn two!  I did NOT :( do the race on March 5th, as I started college last fall, and between that, Jared being home, and trying to keep up with the almost two year old AND the new puppy...I just haven't had much time to get the running in and a few other excuses.
I want to try to keep running and building up to running some type of race and then a marathon, but for now, I am just running a couple of times a week (once at least), and trying to get back to eating right, as now that Jared is home we haven't been eating as healthily and have been eating more junk.  I have actually gained five pounds since he's been home, so it is time to get my butt in gear and get to my goal!
I hope to do that before summer is over, and stick with it for the rest of my life.  Willpower just isn't my strong suit, and Jared isn't necessarily the best trainer.  We are just fat kids at heart :P

On that note, I may try to do a cooking challenge for the rest of the year and see what happens.  Please tune in at a later date.

New Life Path

So, it has been way too long since I have posted, and I have decided to take my life down a new path.  Before we get into all that, I will update you on how things have been for the last 7months or so.  My husband left for Afganhistan back in July, and here it is almost February.  He will be home soon (thank the Lord!), and I am quite nervous, as our baby has grown alot, and I have changed a bit myself.

Haleigh is almost 2 so she his talking alot more, and doing things on her own, where she was still alot of a baby when he left.  So there's that.

Then, I was still 174lbs when he left, and although I said I was doing p90x, I didn't end up finishing it.  I stuck with it for about a month, and that was it.  I didn't really see results from it.  Well, I did decide that I had promised him I would try hard to lose weight and most importantly get healthy so I had to keep my promise.  I was walking with a friend just about every day, and we were up to six miles (while pushing strollers! And sometimes walking the dog).  We lost a little.  So I decided that I would start running....

I have Cystic Fibrosis, so this is something that has been rough for me my whole life.  Well, I could barely run a half mile without dying and taking a whole day for my breathing to recover and my chest to stop hurting.  When Jared left, I had run a mile stopping in between with him to do exercises, and I didn't make it very well, and the breathing recovery was quite a few hours after.  Today, I can run 5miles and it only takes a minute or two for my breathing to be recovered!!  I am SO proud of myself, and I have decided to run a half marathon!  That brings me to the new blog, and the new life path...

I am being brave and posting this picture to show my progress thus far.  The before picture was in 2009 a little while after Haleigh was born.  The after picture was taken in November.  I have since lost a little bit more, but I will wait until I reach my goal (or maybe race day) to post the new results.
...I have been running a couple of times a week (at least once anyway) and since July, I am down 20lbs, and 25inches over my entire body.  I feel great!  And I can keep up with my little one a lot better than before.  I want to continue this, and keep my family involved as well.  I am open to suggestions and helpful hints.  For now, I am going to continue to eat healthy, and train for marathons.  My very first race of any kind is March 5th in Morehead City, NC at 7:30am, and I am determined to at least finish it.  I decided with only 8weeks to train that I was going to do it, so as long as I can finish it, I will be happy. Not to mention that it will be a ginormous accomplishment for me.  I have a little over a month to finish training for it.

I have changed what I eat to less fat, less grease and sugar, and so on.  More fruits and veggies, and most importantly, I have started drinking a minimum of the recommended amount of water everyday.  That is also a huge accomplishment for me, and one of the hardest things I have ever done.  I don't drink alot of anything, especially if I am busy, and anyone who knows me, knows that I chose diet coke when I did drink anything.  You could say I am addicted :P  Well, that isn't the case anymore.  I choose water, and I don't drink anything else until I have had my 8 glasses for the day or know that I will be able to get my 8 glasses a day.

Since my husband is coming home soon, I am starting to feel unmotivated (strange if you ask me), and I don't feel like I have the energy to run.  I don't want to slack off because I know that will make me feel worse, but after awhile that too goes away.  I would appreciate any motivational help I can get, and support for the half marathon from anyone who wants to throw it my way.

I hope this blog will be more interesting, and I can keep up with it better.  Thank you all in advance!
